Nuclear Safety & Licensing
JAI has performed safety analyses and has assisted clients in obtaining licensing and approvals for a variety of nuclear operations.
In the United States, all commercial reactor and fuel cycle facilities must be licensed for operation by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, except in some instances where this authority has been delegated to the States. In most cases, the Department of Energy maintains a separate safety review process over its contractor operations. Other countries have similar authorities to regulate nuclear facilities.
JAI has been involved in assisting clients in safety and licensing activities since 1972. Included in the licensing support JAI provides to clients are the following:
- PERFORMANCE OF NUCLEAR ANALYSIS
- Criticality Shielding
- Radiation Levels
- PREPARATION OF SAFETY ANALYSIS REPORTS AND STUDIES
- ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ANALYSIS STUDIES AND ENVIRONMENTAL REPORTS
- RESPONSE TO NRC REQUESTS AND DEMANDS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- INVESTIGATION OF ACCIDENTS AND PROCEDURAL VIOLATIONS
- PERFORMANCE OF SAFETY/COMPLIANCE REVIEWS OF OPERATIONS
- EVALUATION OF LICENSING REQUIREMENTS FOR NEW TECHNOLOGIES
- AUDIT OF RADIOLOGICAL HEALTH AND SAFETY PROGRAMS
- EXPERT TESTIMONY DURING LICENSING HEARINGS
