Safeguards
JAI has extensive experience in the safeguarding of strategic nuclear material from theft or diversion, and the protection of nuclear materials and facilities from sabotage.
The safeguarding of strategic nuclear materials and facilities from theft, diversion and sabotage is vital in the utilization of nuclear materials for peaceful uses and in the prevention of proliferation of nuclear weapons. Since its formation JAI has been involved in a variety of safeguards activities, including nuclear material control and accounting, physical protection, and an assortment of safeguards studies. The involvement of the firm in physical protection systems for nuclear facilities was the result of the extensive experience of JAI and its key staff members in the design and operation of complex nuclear processing facilities and their knowledge of prospective targets of sabotage within such facilities -- as well as prospective methods of clandestine removal of strategic nuclear materials from such facilities.
